Internal Affairs Cases

The Internal Affairs Cases dataset lists BPD Internal Affairs Division (IAD) complaints, with one record for each officer named in each case. A case with several officers appears once for each of them; each record rolls up that officer's allegations, the finding on each, the most serious outcome (Sustained, Pending, Not Sustained, Unfounded, Exonerated, Filed/Withdrawn) and any action taken. It combines the BPD internal IAD extract, the 2011–2024 IAD file obtained by the National Lawyers Guild, the 2020 IAD complaint records, and the 2022–2025 records request. Officer Match shows whether a record is tied to the officer by employee ID or only by name.
